This was big for me to embed in my brain. I’ve seen so many women with 20+ syringes for their baby before they’ve given birth. I told myself before starting that even if I get .5ml in total before the birth, that’s still something! My goal is to get 4-5ml before I head in to my cesarean in just over a week and a half. I have never antenatally collected colostrum before so this is new to me! But here are some helpful tips that I’ve found that worked for me to get those golden beads! 🌟🥛
• Warm compress or shower
• Soft, rhythmic hand movements
• Stop before it feels like effort
• Calm matters more than volume
• Express into a sterilised spoon
• Use a sterile, capped syringe to collect
• Label & date your collection and freeze in a ziplock bag
• Stop if you’re experiencing uterine contractions
