Here’s the core issue: Sales and marketing are often speaking two completely different languages. Sales' mindset is, “I’ve been doing things this way for years. Why change now?” Marketing says, “Look at all these views and impressions. Aren’t we crushing it?” Breaking down these silos takes effort. It starts with marketing and sales attending each other’s meetings, aligning on shared goals, and—most importantly—listening to the customer. When sales realizes prospects ask the same questions on every discovery call, over and over. Then you think: “What if we had an article, video, or guide that answered those questions before the meeting? How much smoother would the call go?" Now sales sees how content can eliminate repetitive conversations and speed up the sales cycle. Now marketings understands what content that should be creating that actually moves the sales needle. And suddenly—the two teams are happy to work together. Most marketing mailers miss the mark. Here’s why LinkedIn’s recent mailer actually works: 1. Clear Product Messaging: they led with a specific value prop for LinkedIn video content: “Video engagement is 1.4x higher than other content types.” No fluff—just a concrete benefit tied to measurable results. 2. Functional Enablement: gifts that actually help you get better using that products. The lens & mic will help me use their video product better. Smart marketers tie their swag to product adoption, not just brand awareness. 3. Community: High-quality merch people actually want to keep. I have two rules - no vessels because NO ONE needs another mug or flask and no tote bags unless they’re super high quality because NO ONE needs another thin tote - straight into the trash - invest in quality. 4. Shareable / Organic Amplification: looks lovely so people will share (hence this video) to drive coverage. Some people make this the main goal which is not correct - coverage in and of itself is s never really a business goal (unless you work in PR, social etc.). The takeaway for marketers: Your mailer should solve a problem, enable success, and reflect your brand standards. The Indian Govt has partnered with Alibaba to help Indian businesses sell to global buyers... Startup India has just announced a Global Export Enablement Challenge... by which they are inviting logistics startups, fintech and payment processing startups, as well as startups in B2B SaaS platforms to apply and become channel partners with Alibaba so that foreign buyers can find Indian suppliers and these products can be shipped globally. This is Phase 1 of the partnership by which the government is building the right infrastructure to get more businesses on boarded... But if you’re an Indian business owner, you can access the Alibaba website in India, and also register as a supplier... as the govt has selectively allowed operations of the website in India... It’s expected that the govt will continue to ban consumer facing Chinese apps... but would be open to having B2B focused Chinese apps running, which enable Indian businesses find buyers abroad. For example, African buyers extensively find vendors on platforms like Alibaba. If you’re an Indian business, it may make sense for you to get onboarded, get an IEC code, and set up your profile in a way that you are a Gold Supplier profile, and have Trade Assurance activated. These are badges that help foreign buyers trust the vendor more. I would assume Alibaba and Startup India would start marketing for this maybe after 6 months, so people who are early movers now before active marketing starts, may benefit in some capacity. #casarthakahuja
