This little beach is a true hidden gem and just a short drive from Ft Myers! Just make sure you get there early, we got there at 9am and snagged the last parking spot 😬 Parking is $5 /hr and regularly patrolled. But once there you’ll find a secluded beach with a wide open shoreline, soft sand and perfect teal water. For parents this is a great beach for little ones with clean bathrooms and a shower to rinse off after!

We stayed in the cutest canal-side Airbnb just a short walk to the beach and spent our days exploring Fort Myers Beach, Bonita Beach, Sanibel Island, and Naples. From dolphin sightings and beautiful sunrises to unforgettable sunsets and amazing restaurants, this was the perfect Florida family getaway. If you’re in the Panama City Beach area, a trip to Shell Island is an absolute MUST 🤍 This untouched barrier island is about 7 miles long and completely natural - no buildings, no vendors, just pure Florida beauty. You’ll want to bring everything you need for the day (chairs, snacks, beach bags, all of it!). There are two amazing ways to get there: • Rent a pontoon ($200 for a half day) if you’re comfortable driving a boat - it’s more like cruising a calm channel than open ocean • Or take the ferry from St. Andrews State Park ($130 total for us 5) Hot take from my husband: he preferred the pontoon because he liked the quieter end of the island vs. where the ferry drops you off 👀 Our day looked like: ✨ Shell + sand dollar hunting (SO many!) ✨ Spotting dolphins, crabs, and birds ✨ Swimming + exploring untouched beaches Pro tip: watch out for the crabs 🦀 - my son learned the hard way 😅 (pack Band-Aids just in case) Ferry tips: • You’ll pay $8 per car to enter the state park • Plan to arrive 30 mins early to catch the tram to the ferry • There’s a gift shop before the tram with anything you forgot • You can hop back on the ferry anytime to head back After a full beach day, we grabbed dinner at Patches Pub & Grill - such a local gem with live music vibes 🎶 🏆 Best grouper sandwich (according to my husband after MANY taste tests) 🌮 Ahi tuna tacos with mango = unreal Save this for your next PCB or 30A Florida trip 🌊 #shellisland #30avacation #panamacitybeachflorida

Bring a faith-based book for their take one leave one wall or play one of their board games) A full beach day on Sanibel Island (shells + sunshine) Dinner at Burntwood Tavern - Gulf Coast Town Center location (playground + puppies next door = parenting win) Coffee + shopping at House of Ride Nature (relaxed vibe, cute finds, mini ramp for skating, and yes… a spot for the kids to hang too) Follow for more family trips that strengthen your marriage, not stress it out

Some places ask you to hurry. Sanibel and Captiva suggest you slow down. Seashells in your pockets, bikes instead of traffic, sunsets that take their time. Start the morning on the beach. Sanibel is known as the Shelling Capital of the World for a reason. Walk the shoreline slowly and you will see it. Conchs, coquinas, lightning whelks. The kinds of finds that make you look twice. Late morning is for two wheels. Miles of paved bike paths wind through the islands, past palms and quiet neighborhoods, toward stretches of sand that feel wonderfully removed from everything else. Spend the afternoon exploring J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Mangroves, roseate spoonbills, maybe even a dolphin in the distance. It is the kind of place that rewards patience. By evening, cross over to Captiva. Bright cottages, Gulf views, and a stop at The Bubble Room for a slice of cake that is as colorful as the building itself. End the day back on the beach. No rush. Just a wide horizon and the sound of the tide coming in. That is a weekend in Sanibel and Captiva. 📍@visitfortmyers
