DRWe can't convince a child they are enough- we need to provide experiences where they FEEL enough. Therapeutic play provides this opportunity, for both the adult and child.

DRSometimes we can think we know what a child needs but it's more about what we need. Children need the space to connect with themselves, their feelings and make sense of it all. And sometimes that means, it's okay to not be okay 🩵

DRWhen we realise that the child's behaviour is not about facts, it's our interpretation, we realise we can start there, in fact, so much pressure is taken off, even when the behaviour hasnt shifted yet. Change what you see, and what you see changes 💚

It is in the repair (either with others or ourselves) is the way forward, the path towards healing and growth.

DRJust because we can't see those feelings, does not mean they are not bubbling up within the child. Therapeutic play provides the opportunity for children to process and make sense of all their feelings, not just the ones that feel good or are socially more acceptable 💙

WEWhat is Play Therapy?
When children feel overwhelmed, anxious, angry, or sad, they often don’t have the words to explain what’s happening inside. Instead, those feelings come out through behaviour.
In play therapy, a trained therapist creates a safe, accepting space where children can express themselves through play at their own pace. Through stories, art, movement, and symbolic play, children can process big emotions, make sense of difficult experiences, and begin to heal.
It may look like “just playing” but deep emotional work is happening underneath.
Play therapy can help children with anxiety, trauma, loss, behavioural difficulties, low confidence, and many other challenges.
Because when children feel understood, they don’t just cope… they thrive.

REWhy I immediately fired a therapist for letting me go overtime without telling me: Whenever I talk about setting limits and boundaries with children, I put it in the framework of safety.
