Getdown Services are what happens when you stop taking “serious music” seriously and start making something far more alive.
The Bristol duo Josh Law and Ben Sadler operate in that sweet spot between groove and mischief. On paper, “disco rock” sounds like a throwaway tag. In practice, it’s a tight collision of rubbery basslines, wiry guitars, deadpan vocals and beats that feel built for sticky floored rooms. There’s funk in the hips, post-punk in the bones, and a distinctly British smirk running through the lyrics.
But here’s the thing: the humour isn’t a gimmick. It’s a delivery system.
Their songs often read like overheard pub conversations awkward truths, small-town absurdities, sideways observations about modern life. The wit lands because the grooves land first. You’re moving before you realise you’re being nudged.
