KDGuysss I watched Melo Movie and my head has been in the clouds ever since!
This movie reminded me so much of Our Beloved Summer, I looked up the writer and turns out the same person who wrote both dramas.
If you enjoyed OBS, you’d definitely enjoy this drama. I rewatch Our beloved summer every year, so I was elated watching this. I seriously think the writer wrote the male lead with Choi Woo Shik in mind…the character was 10000% him.
This drama follows the Ko Gyeom (Choi Woo Shik) a film nerd who absolutely loves movies and a film director who ironically hates them.
I really liked how quickly the couple got on, it wasn’t draggy at all but this fact caused their breakup to hit just as fast 😂.
The drama explores its fair share of grief and healing, the subplot with his brother and the sheer love they had for each-other made me cry multiple times. They sort of lived for eachother it was palpable to watch 🥹.
The second leads were quite frustrating, cute but exhausting… and at the crux of both relationship struggle was their inability to communicate. Half of the hurdles characters in kdrama face would be resolved if they would just open their mouth and TALK! Like when Gyeom just disappeared without even attempting to communicate, I wanted to rip my hair out, he waited for her to figure out the reason before he admitted also. It takes two seconds to text ffs! 😭
The chemistry between the leads was more of the comforting and warm type, we didn’t get as much tension and fireworks which kinda suits Park Bo Young, I loved it, I didn’t mind it at all but I saw couple of people complain about their chemistry. Me? I loved them together.
I really enjoyed Melo Movie; a really great binge if you’re looking for something calm and soothing
