Here are the 7 rules most candidates never learn:
1. Say this: “It was easy — I gave myself extra time.”
Not this: Complaints about traffic, delays, or being rushed.
Stress stories reveal poor planning, even if they’re relatable.
2. Say this: A neutral, positive comment about the office or neighborhood.
Not this: Comparing it to your old company or saying “my last firm did it differently.”
Comparison shows as judgmental, not experienced.
3. Say this: Light, contained enthusiasm for the role.
Not this: “I really don’t like/enjoy my current job.”
