But botanically, it’s a juniper.
This is Juniperus virginiana — a true juniper, growing wild across the eastern U.S., and one of our most ancient clearing forest medicines.
Right now is when I harvest the berries.
I dry them and keep them in my apothecary so I can nibble juniper berries year-round. This is my plant ally and it is why I cover it in depth in our Wild Herb Academy Membership, In Season.
Juniper berries support digestion, keep stagnation from settling in, and support graceful aging. Collecting them with gratitude helps you tune into the rhythms of mother nature.
🌿 Juniper is revered far beyond the West.
In Tibet and across the Himalayas, juniper is considered a sacred tree — burned as incense in daily rituals to purify spaces, protect vitality, and strengthen the life force.
