I once read about how ladder logic was developed to make it *easier* and faster for service techs to troubleshoot machines because they can simply look at the ladder diagram and immediately know what’s going on… I’m not sure that’s how I would describe my experience, but I sure am happy about my success here! This is my first time attempting to edit ladder logic to gain some desired function. It’s pretty cool to be able to change the functionality of a machine with zero physical modifications. You just have to speak the language, and languages are suuuper easy. The machine is a lathe that machines the sidewalls (for rim brakes) on @velocityusa rims. It’s such a gem. Simple, reliable, and it does its job well. Here’s to many thousands more machined sidewalls 🍻 #russellmakes #ladderlogic #plc #programming #noob

Ladder Logic vs. Other Programming Languages: A Comparison In today’s video, we are going to talk about Ladder Diagram and how it compares to other PLC programming languages. As you may be aware, PLCs are special-purpose computers that are designed to monitor and control automated processes. PLCs are programmed using programming languages defined in the IEC 61131-3 standard. This standard defines 5 programming languages called Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, Sequential Function Chart, and Instruction List that are supported by almost all PLC manufacturers. A complete PLC programmer is comfortable with all programming languages and is able to choose the best language to accomplish a task.
