This tiny “leaf sheep” is one of the strangest solar-powered animals in the ocean. 🌿 It feeds on algae and keeps the algae’s chloroplasts inside its own body in a process called kleptoplasty. Those stolen chloroplasts can still produce energy from sunlight for a while, giving the slug an extra boost, but it still needs to eat to survive. The little “ears” on its head are rhinophores used to sense its environment, and the leaf-like bumps on its back help with camouflage while storing those chloroplasts.
