Teachers you just need a minute to set this activity up💁‍♀️👏 One of the BEST ideas I’ve posted over the years (I know I post it at the start of every year, so if you’ve seen it scroll on😘😘). All you need is magnetic tape, rulers and foam letters. Now, this idea was inspired by an excessive amount of magnetic tape (what can I say, hubby loves his Bunnings shopping adventures with the kids- Hammerbarn for Bluey viewers international😉) and a cheap set of classroom rulers….and some of them may not have been altogether straight.😬 These magnetic rulers I’ve made work PERFECTLY with magnetic foam letters and numbers. Possibilities include encoding as shown, but also: add pictures above the ruler and they could find the initial sounds, or use a couple of rulers to make a sentence before attempting to write, or name practise….the list is endless! I’m just quietly going to add here that the process of sticking the magnetic tape on rulers is fun and definitely satisfying. Kids simply draw an UNO card and use dot markers (or stickers, crayons, or even finger paint!) to add that exact number of colored dots to the caterpillar. Once the caterpillar is fully decorated, the real math challenge begins: counting up all the dots of each color and finding the grand totals!
