FRKnocked out a 13 Fret 25.500" Scale Neck for @jeramydilley this morning!
I figured it be neat to show y'all the process from the ground up. Normally, I'd already have the fretboard laid out before even thinking about the neck geometry.
Jerry and I have been working to get his CNC machine cranking out his guitar parts from his shop down in Tennessee. An often missed advantage of working with CAD and CAM is the ability to collaborate with makers from all across our globe.
You'll notice throughout the process I create extra surfaces here and there. Down the road, these will be useful during the CAM process. I've always found it advantageous to look ahead to CAM while working in CAD.
Jerry has been working hard to get his machined tooled up for the processes to come, so next step for this neck is getting it into position on some vacuum workholding to make sure our part stays buckled in for the duration of the ride!

EIInstalling a non-invasive top graft on this 1944 000-18. I make an impression mold of the damaged/ missing section of the top, then use that to carve a graft with all the needed contours to fill the voids. This way I can have complete contact and a strong glue joint, without removing any more of the original guitar top.
