⬇️The idea of a 18-year-old choosing their major *for the rest of their life* is… somewhat ridiculous, don’t you think? If you feel like your major is draining you — you’re not alone. Entering my undergrad, I decided to go to law school. At first, law felt so right: ❤️‍🔥 truly what interests me 📝 aligns with my strengths 🫂 helps people 💸 lucrative long-term But in a year everything changed… When job search started. That’s when I felt the downsides: 🚫 I’m in undergrad and can’t work in the field yet 💰 Law school = *major* debt ⏳ 5 more years until a full-time paycheck 📚 LSAT prep + apps = expensive And it’s a stretch. This made me question everything. And I think I’ll still pursue law — but I’m also searching for ways to pivot — just in case the downsides will start to weight on too much. 🎓 Anyone else rethinking their path lately? I’d love to hear your story too. I started this blog to be honest about the parts of student life we don’t always talk about. No “looking back” wisdom — just the things I don’t hear people say out loud. #university #student #studygram #studywithme #prelaw

20 Common mistakes when applying to law school: 1. Starting too late can lead to rushed, lower-quality submissions. 2. Weak personal statements fail to convey your unique story. 3. Not having a healthy mix of safety, target, and reach schools. 4. Recommenders who aren’t excited about you or can’t effectively speak about you in a substantive way. 5. Not dedicating enough time and resources to LSAT prep. 6. Not articulating your level of intentionality and clear vision regarding your legal career goals. 7. Not addressing application blemishes strategically. 8. High numbers alone don’t guarantee admission. 9. Highlight ALL (even seemingly “non-relevant”) experiences. 10. Be sure to have a plan for application costs. 11. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to provide valuable context about your background. 12. Missing key insights and relationship-building opportunities with admissions officers, students, alumni, and others. 13. Relying solely on rankings: Neglecting other important factors. 14. Procrastination contributes to increased stress and errors. 15. Misrepresentation leads to serious consequences if discovered. 16. Unfocused essays are one of the worse things you can have. 17. Unfortunately, many personal statement prompts are negligently misleading. 18. Don’t skip expert feedback, even some advisors lack real law school admissions experience and expertise. 19. Avoiding affordable consulting: Check out my $200 group coaching program! 20. Here’s the truth: lawyers like me get ten ‘can we get coffee’ emails a week. But, I would neglect my law firm clients trying to respond to and meet with everyone. But y’all have access to tools we didn’t have. So stop gatekeeping yourself. Use the resources in front of you and move like the lawyer you’re trying to become. If you’re a future lawyer, you should be using ChatGPT like your law school coach, not a shortcut. Here are the exact prompts you can start using today: 1. “I want to get accepted to [insert law school]. Create a 6-month admissions strategy for me, including LSAT prep, application milestones, recommended recommenders, and a timeline.” 2. “My goal score is a 150 on the LSAT. Build me a study plan with daily tasks, weekly milestones, full-length practice test dates, and when to start drilling logic games, LR, and reading comp.” 3. “Help me create a personalized LSAT study schedule in calendar format. I can study X hours on these days.” 4. “Build me a list of 8–12 law schools I’m competitive for based on GPA, LSAT goals, and career interests.” 5. “Outline a game plan to strengthen my application over the next six months, including resume edits, personal statement brainstorming, and what experiences I should prioritize.” 6. “I want to become a competitive scholarship applicant. What should I be doing now to position myself?” And the best part? You don’t have to wait on coffee chats or hope someone answers your DM. Use the tools that already exist. Use them early. Use them well. And move like the lawyer you’re trying to become! ✨ #LSAT #PreLaw #FutureLawyer #LawSchool #LawStudent
