Incalf heifers for @unitedauctions Oban on the 8th November and by far the hardest group I’ve ever had to video, near impossible to take videos from the right angles when the whole group are dead set on following you as close as is possible where ever you go. On the plus side It makes for very easy stock movements around the farm and I think you will struggle to find quieter easier handled heifers. The majority of heifers put forward are rising 2 year old with a small hand-full of rising 3 year olds who weren’t quite big enough to bull at 14months. Most people can simply relax at WildLuing or have adventures on the island itself… But let’s say you wanted to say you’ve visited 5 islands during your week long holiday in Scotland? Can it be done? Yes! A week of island hopping all from your base at WildLuing. 1. Easdale. A short distance from Luing with a 15 minute drive across neighbouring Seil and a passenger ferry of a few minutes to arrive on the island. A beautiful, small car free island with a local pub @thepufferbar offering fresh produce and beautiful walks nearby. 2. Kerrera. A 30 minute drive to the nearby town of Oban and a 5 minute passenger ferry crossing to reach this stunning island. Head to the @kerrerateagarden for tasty goodies and explore Gylen Castle. 3. The Isle of Luing of course! It counts as you are staying with us on the Isle of Luing. Lots to discover including popping into The Atlantic Islands Centre run by @luingtrust with cakes made by @luinghomebakers and walks around our beautiful coast. 4. Lismore. This is the furthest away island but is still achievable for a day trip. A 30 minute drive to Oban to catch the 55 minute scenic ferry to Lismore. Lismore is a mainly flat island ideal for cycling (cars are allowed) and is home to @lismoregaelicheritagecentre and @isleoflismorecafe which offers local produce such as Langoustines and homemade ice cream! 5. The Isle of Seil. The closest island to Luing, which you will travel through to reach @wildluing via ‘the bridge over the Atlantic’. Although joined to the mainland by this small bridge it retains island character and has the delicious dining experiences of @tighantruish and @oystereasdale on it, along with wildlife watching opportunities galore. We have visited the most beautiful places around Scotland, witnessed the most heartbreaking scenes of horrendous amounts of plastic pollution and we have worked alongside the most incredible people, organisations and communities! We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers, you are the backbone of Scottish Coastal Clean Up and the reason there is 30 tonnes less of marine litter on our shores. We thank our generous funders and all of the people who have helped us along the way (and there have been many!). This really has been a team effort.
