The Matrix (1999) — The directors, the Wachowskis, took a massive gamble by spending their entire original $10 million budget on just the first 10 minutes of the film.
They used the footage to convince Warner Bros. executives of their vision, which successfully led to an additional $50 million in funding. The film is strictly color-coded: scenes within the Matrix have a green tint and no blue, while scenes in the real world have a blue tint with no green.
