My hardest multi-pitch yet!! • This week I got to lead all the pitches of “Triassic Sands” (5.10)! With my Dad and little bro following, we had a blast climbing this amazing four pitch splitter crack out in Black Velvet Canyon! • Such a cool route! It all starts out with a short off-width crack off the ground for the first pitch, (a nice little warm-up for what comes next). Then straight into the crux of the route, a short double roof that goes from fingers to hands through all the sizes! • Once you make it through the crux, you’re rewarded with miles of beautiful hand / fist crack with all that classic Red Rock patina to keep things interesting! • I was lucky enough to spend this whole winter in Red Rock working on my multi-pitch skills, and I’m feeling pretty dialed in! I got a ton of experience with route finding, linking pitches, building anchors, and problem solving when things get tough! • I found out quickly how important it is to be able to communicate with your partner, and how big of a challenge that can be when it’s windy or the pitches are long and wandering. After a few challenging situations, I was lucky enough to link up with @rockytalkies, and what a game changer!
