With British and homegrown transphobia in on the rise, it’s easy to get panicked. It’s so important we stay grounded and build a strong path forward together.
The most powerful thing people can do to support Trans people in this moment is have real life conversations with people who don’t understand the issue - and why it’s so important. They will be hearing more transphobia right now - so they need to hear from us - away from the intensity of social media.
As hard as it can be, we have to treat these conversations as a dance, not a war. We have to lead with values, not arguments.
Hope and Courage Collective (@hopeandcouragecollective) have developed a guide on talking about trans rights with your friends and family - to make those conversations ones where we can actually open hearts, change minds, and protect Trans people in Ireland.

BLLet me say that representation doesn’t make people trans. Representation gives examples and verbiage for people to apply to their own experiences. Seeing someone live openly and happily as non-binary allowed me to explore my own identity and give a label to something I always felt but couldn’t explain.
That’s why I will always be open and proud about being non-binary and queer. I will never shy away from sharing my story and being someone younger me would be proud of.
