NEThese 3D prints are unreal. We’ve been experimenting with the transparency toolkit from @heygears3d.official to create optically clear models of radiolarians, microscopic single-celled marine organisms that build intricate glass skeletons with stunning geometric complexity.
We’ve been designing and printing radiolarians in transparent resin for a while, but this is the first time we’ve been able to make them truly clear.
HeyGears reached out and sent us their latest setup, the Reflex Pro 2.0 with the pulsing release module, along with their new transparent resin (PAT10) and G115 spray. The results honestly surprised us. Applying the G115 spray gave these prints a level of clarity we haven’t seen before, especially in forms this complex. Normally, getting a resin print clear requires extensive sanding and polishing, which just isn’t possible with structures like this. But here, a simple spray brought out a glass-like finish.
We also experimented with dyeing the parts before spraying to add subtle color. We used acid fabric dye and just a few minutes in the dye bath was enough to tint the models. The darker colors make the layered patterns and fine details much easier to read from a distance.
