This parenting tip by @biglittlefeelings was so helpful, we had to share! 💡 "It’s TOTALLY NORMAL for your toddler to have BIG feelings about the arrival of a new baby. Your toddler has been THE focus of all of your love + attention up to this point. Then all of the sudden a brand new sibling moves into THEIR house and takes away the attention of THEIR parent. And let’s be honest for a sec, this sibling cries allllll the time and is not super fun for at least a few months. It’s not easy on our toddlers!" Here’s the parenting tip that changed everything for me. And I truly believe it’s one of the reasons my adult kids still talk to me. Still trust me. Still come to me. Pay attention to the details. When your child is telling you about their day, they’re not just filling space. They’re giving you pieces of their world. A friend’s name. A teacher they don’t like. A test they’re nervous about. A game coming up. A kid who embarrassed them. A random story that seems small to you. It’s not small to them. Don’t just nod and move on. Track it. Remember it. Follow up on it. “Hey, how did that math test go?” “What happened with Ava today?” “Was today the day you were worried about?” When you circle back on the details, your child learns: You were listening. You care. They matter. Kids know who is paying attention. And in high-conflict homes especially, the parent who is steady, intentional, and detail-oriented becomes the safe place. Side note: I keep notes in my phone. Names. Dates. Stressors. Wins. Especially with multiple kids — you will not remember it all. This is long-game parenting. Not just custody time. If this hit home, share it with another parent who needs the reminder. Know better. Be better. #IntentionalParenting #DivorceWithKids #HighConflictCoparenting #SingleMomLife #ParentingAfterDivorce ConnectedParenting TheUglyTruthOfDivorce

Parenting tip for fussy sleepers: We’ve all tried every ‘hack’ to get our little one to sleep through the night—but do they really work? 🤔 While I can’t guarantee miracles, I will say that healthy foods like fruits and veggies are great for baby, and magnesium (like in Epsom salt soaks) can help them relax. But the true secret? Consistency! A calming bedtime routine and quality time before bed are key. 💤 Video Credit: @keisha7788 (TikTok) #ParentingHacks #babysleep #parentingtips #pediatricianreacts #parentingadvice

Here’s a parenting tip I can get on board with! We are doing it and I’m noticing such a beautiful shift. These moments seem to be the ‘tone-setting’ moments for the ones that follow. This morning my daughter came upstairs in her pjs and asked me for a cuddle in my bed. I looked over at the bed I’d only just made, with the cushions in their place, and remembered this 9-minute tip. Instead of saying ‘let’s hug here, I just made the bed’ I shoved the cushions aside and in we got. Moments later my boys came in, saw the scene, and jumped in for a cuddle too. It was absolutely divine. The first moments of the morning, the moments they come out of school asking what snacks I’ve bought before they’ve even looked me in the eye, and the final-furlong of the day before I close their doors and wish them goodnight…. I’m going to continue being more intentional about them. I like this! The 9-minute theory was coined by Jaak Panksepp, the late neuroscientist who sought to give parents structure that helped produce positive emotions in their children.
As we know, it’s less about time, and those specific moments (some cannot be with their kids at these times)…. and we all know that it’s not 9 minutes and ‘done’. It’s more about honouring your relationship with warm, quality, undivided attention. However, I loved how this made me think, slow my pace, and act more intentionally at what can often be busy times of the day where my attention is fractured. What do you think? xx

No Response is a Response 💛 🌟 The Power of Doing Nothing Dr. Becky Kennedy shares a game-changing parenting tip - sometimes, doing nothing is the best response. When kids say something hurtful or rude, our instinct is to react, but that can escalate the situation. By staying calm and not engaging, we take away the fuel for the fire. 💡 Breaking the Ping-Pong Match When we respond to rudeness with more words, it creates a back-and-forth cycle. By doing nothing, we break this cycle and give our kids space to process and reflect on their emotions. This helps them develop emotional regulation skills and take responsibility for their words. 🚀 Sturdy Parenting in Action What’s one situation where you’ll try “doing nothing” as a parenting strategy? How can you stay calm and let the moment pass? 🔸Join the conversation!
