THIf you’re getting started in business, the first place to invest is not a deal or an idea.
It’s you.
Before strategy, capital or scale, you need clarity, discipline and the ability to perform consistently. That starts with your health.
I don’t drink, I eat well and train regularly. I work on myself because it directly affects how I show up in business and how I make decisions under pressure.
From there, education matters. You need to spend time learning before you expect results. Read, study and follow people who have real experience doing what you want to do.
Finding the right mentor can shorten your learning curve dramatically, but only if that person has actually been through cycles and built something real.
Once you’ve committed to learning, you begin building a foundation around you.
That means working with an accountant who understands your goals, an attorney who knows how to protect you and professionals in your market who know how deals actually work.
Today, technology makes access easier than when I started, but the fundamentals haven’t changed.
If I were starting again, I would begin locally, learn my region deeply and build from the ground up.
That mindset is exactly what I share in my book, “Hard Assets and Hard Money for Hard Times.”
