Is this the most underrated trail in the USA?! 😳🌊 The Chapel Loop Trail is in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan and it might be one of the most underrated hikes in the USA. 🥾 Trail Info: 📏 Distance: ~10.4 mile loop 📈 Elevation gain: ~800 ft ⏱️ Time: 4–6 hours 💪 Difficulty: Moderate ✨ Why it’s so special: You hike through forests and get to stand on 200ft tall sandstone cliffs watching the Lake Superior waves crash into the shoreline. You can explore secluded beaches too. The section between Chapel Rock and Mosquito Beach is the most iconic coastline in the entire park for sure. ⚡️ Tips: 🌅 Start early because parking at Chapel/Mosquito trailhead fills VERY fast. 💧 Bring water + snacks, there are no services once you start the loop. 🦟 Bug spray in the summer is a non-negotiable. 🌊 Stay away from cliff edges. 🚻 No bathrooms on the loop. 📌 Add the Chapel Loop to your bucket list, it’s proof that the Midwest is way more epic than people think. @puremichigan @picturedrocksnps #picturedrocksnationallakeshore #michigan #greatlakes #usaroadtrip #bucketlisttravel travelcouple beautifuldestinations

Located just outside of Marquette, this 323-acre peninsula stretches out into Lake Superior and is known for its dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear water, and scenic overlooks. You can drive the entire loop (about 3 miles), or park and explore the trails, rocky shoreline, and hidden coves along the way. One of the most popular spots here is Black Rocks, where people jump into Lake Superior during the summer but be prepared, the water is COLD year-round. There are also multiple lookout points where you can watch waves crash against the cliffs, especially on windy days.
