COFamilies...this is one reason why playing games can make a difference with your child and their math development. This math learner is subitizing, which is recognizing the number of. items in a group without counting them. How did she know the five that she saw? Why, pips (the dots) on dice, of course! She frequently plays games with dice, so a group of 5 is easy for her to recognize.

These cards are from a game called Tiny Polka Dots, and we highly recommend it for playing at home with your kids! It's 16 games (at least!) in just the one deck. And the questions this teacher asks are just SUPREME, leaving so much room for student thinking.
