🔑 If the code starts with a 3 or 4 and has 4 digits it is Conventionally Grown
🔑 If the the code starts with an 8 and has 5 digits it is Genetically Modified
🔑 If the code starts with a 9 and has 5 digits it is Organically Grown
🔑 Conventional:
Conventional farms tend to be larger, uses artificial technology and Genetically Modified Seeds, and grows a single type of high-yield crop utilizing synthetic pesticides and fertilizers which tends to be found on conventionally produce.
🔑 Genetically Modified (GMO): uses a variety of artificial tools, including traditional breeding methods/grafting and genetic engineering to make changes to plants or animals or to develop microorganisms for specific agricultural uses. It too uses synthetic pesticides and fertilizers that tends to be found on Genetically Modified (GMO) Produce.
🔑 Organically grown:
Organic agricultural crops are grown from organic seeds without synthetic fertilizers, chemical pesticides, irradiation or genetic engineering. While natural pesticides and fertilizers are primarily used, a limited number of approved synthetic substances are allowed by the USDA if natural methods are inadequate.
