AFThe fallout from the Peter Mandelson vetting scandal continues to dominate Westminster, and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has come out fighting during today’s PMQs.
Facing immense scrutiny over allegations that Downing Street forced through Mandelson’s appointment as US Ambassador despite security red flags, Starmer forcefully denied that Number 10 inappropriately “pressured” former Foreign Office chief Sir Olly Robbins.
During yesterday’s explosive Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, Robbins testified that there was an “atmosphere of constant chasing” and “constant pressure” from the Prime Minister’s inner circle to get Mandelson into his Washington post swiftly.
