DE"My grandad was diagnosed with mixed dementia nearly five years ago. He was 76 years old, and I was 24.
Grandad has played a pivotal role in all our lives, especially after I lost my father at a young age. He has always been a humble, deeply respected man - qualities that still shine through, even in the later stages of his dementia." 💙

💫 happy new year from the Ancient Forest! 💫

The old year
flips over
to reveal
a new one, written
on its belly
in strawberry jam.
The year of the back
is over.
The year of the belly
has arrived,
flip flop
flippidy flop.
It goes on and on
like this,
year of the belly,
year of the back,
year of the belly,
year of the back.
One soft, vulnerable,
exposed.
The other tough
as a hedgehog’s spines,
an armadillo’s plates,
a door slammed shut
in the face of terror.
The Great Flippidy Flop
from one year
to the next,
flippidy flop
onto the cool side
of the pillow,
into that beautiful
relief.
