The history of #photography began with the discovery of two critical principles: The first is camera obscura image projection, the second is the discovery that some substances are visibly altered by exposure to light[2]. There are no artifacts or descriptions that indicate any attempt to capture images with light sensitive materials prior to the 18th century. View from the Window at Le Gras 1826 or 1827, believed to be the earliest surviving camera photograph.[1] Original (left) and colorized reoriented enhancement (right). Around 1717, Johann Heinrich Schulze used a light-sensitive slurry to capture images of cut-out letters on a bottle. However, he did not pursue making these results permanent. Around 1800, Thomas Wedgwood made the first reliably documented, although unsuccessful attempt at capturing camera images in permanent form. His experiments did produce detailed photograms, but Wedgwood and his associate Humphry Davy found no way to fix these images. In 1826, Nicéphore Niépce first managed to fix an image that was captured with a camera, but at least eight hours or even several days of exposure in the camera were required and the earliest results were very crude. Niépce's associate Louis Daguerre went on to develop the daguerreotype process, the first publicly announced and commercially viable photographic process. The daguerreotype required only minutes of exposure in the camera, and produced clear, finely detailed results. On August 2, 1839 Daguerre demonstrated the details of the process to the Chamber of Peers in Paris. On August 19 the technical details were made public in a meeting of the Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Fine Arts in the Palace of Institute. (For granting the rights of the inventions to the public, Daguerre and Niépce were awarded generous annuities for life.)[3][4][5] When the metal based daguerreotype process was demonstrated formally to the public, the competitor approach of paper-based calotype negative and salt print processes invented by William Henry Fox Talbot was already demonstrated in London (but with less publicity).[5] Subsequent innovations made photography easier and more versatile.

This video demonstrates a visual illusion using basic principles of geometry and perspective. The Subject The demonstration involves a person holding a thin, curved wire or hairpin in front of their face. The Mechanism By positioning the wire between the camera lens and the nose, the subject uses depth perception to create an alignment. As the wire rotates or shifts, the two curved ends appear to emerge from the nostrils simultaneously, forming a symmetrical mustache shape. The Purpose The clip illustrates how the human eye can be misled by the spatial relationship between foreground objects and background facial features.

Yale physics professor Ramamurti Shankar is known for making difficult subjects, including quantum mechanics, easier to understand. His approach focuses on clarity rather than presentation. He starts from basic principles, defines terms carefully, and builds ideas step by step before moving to advanced concepts. This method is reflected in his Open Yale Courses lecture series, which has been widely used by students and self-learners worldwide. The lectures emphasize logical structure and gradual progression, helping viewers follow topics that are often considered inaccessible. His work shows that for complex subjects, clear organization and precise explanations can matter more than simplified shortcuts. Credit: https://m.youtube.com/@YaleCourses

🎥 Perfect Days is such a beautiful movie that captures the deepest principles of Japanese wellness: presence, ritual, gratitude, and harmony with life. At its heart, the film shows that health doesn’t come from chasing more, but from living in rhythm with what is. 🌿 Core Japanese wellness principles from the film: 1. Ritual creates regulation Hirayama’s days are repetitive waking up, cleaning, watering plants, listening to cassette tapes. To Western society it might feel monotonous but in Japan it’s ikigai: a life anchored by meaningful, steady rituals. These routines calm the nervous system, lower cortisol, and give the body a sense of safety, the foundation of all healing. 2. Presence heals the body. Hirayama rarely speaks, yet he is deeply alive noticing sunlight through leaves, the sound of music. It all encompasses mindfulness, a cornerstone of Japanese wellness. When we live in the present, the brain exits fight-or-flight and the body enters repair mode. 3. Simplicity reduces inflammation. Japanese culture values wabi-sabi, the beauty of what is simple, imperfect, and real. Less stimulation is less stress and more balance in the nervous and hormonal systems. 4. Nature is medicine (Shinrin-yoku). The film constantly frames trees, sky, and light. forest bathing is a Japanese practice proven to lower blood pressure, calm the nervous system, and boost immunity. Even in the city, nature remains a healer and is prescribed by doctors in Japan. 5. Gratitude is a physiological state. In Japanese wellness, gratitude is something you feel in the body. Hirayama’s quiet appreciation for small moments keeps him emotionally and biologically regulated. Gratitude activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the state where digestion, repair, and longevity happen. My hope for 2026 is that we can all adopt some of these practices - to slow down, create rituals, notice the beauty around us. our nervous systems will thank us 🤗 More of this in 2026 ❤️ hope everyone has a great new year ! . . . . . #wellness #japan #gratitude #japanese #mindfulness

This demonstration is a practical illustration of fluid mechanics and buoyant equilibrium, where the observable behavior of an object immersed in a liquid is governed by fundamental physical principles rather than visual intuition. When the peeled orange is introduced into the aqueous medium, its average density exceeds that of the surrounding fluid, resulting in a net downward gravitational force that causes it to sink. In contrast, the unpeeled orange remains afloat due to the presence of microscopic air pockets within the peel, which significantly reduce the system’s effective density. This phenomenon is a direct consequence of Archimedes’ Principle, which states that an object submerged in a fluid experiences an upward buoyant force equal to the weight of the displaced fluid. The balance between buoyant force, gravitational acceleration, and mass distribution determines whether the object undergoes flotation or submersion. Such experiments provide a simplified yet powerful insight into hydrostatic pressure variation, volume displacement, and force equilibrium conditions. Beyond its simplicity, this experiment highlights the importance of conceptual clarity, empirical observation, and theoretical validation in physics. True understanding is not merely about memorizing formulas, but about recognizing how fundamental laws manifest in everyday phenomena through systematic experiment . . #viral #fyp #reels #trendingreels #explorepage

A PNAS study found "Crazy Ants" outperformed humans at navigating a T-shaped object through a maze, revealing key principles: - group memory (collective learning without individual recall), - self-organization (solutions emerge from local interactions, no central control), and - adaptive navigation (real-time distributed problem-solving). These map directly to warehouse robotics, search-and-rescue, and manufacturing challenges. The critical question: what limits multi-robot systems more: communication infrastructure (latency, bandwidth) or our algorithms for distributed memory? The ants suggest we haven't cracked true collective intelligence yet. 🚨 Follow @aidisruptor for the latest in AI and tech innovation. Elon Musk: First-principles thinking is the key to building things as efficiently as possible. “I tend to think of things from a sort of physics standpoint, from a first-principle standpoint. What would be the best way to accomplish something and then pursue that. And that's also a good way to determine if something's far from its optimum. And like on rockets, for example, you could reason by analogy and say the rocket's going to cost a certain amount because that's what prior rockets have cost. Or you can say, well, what is a rocket made of? What are the material constituents? What do they weigh? What's the cost per unit mass? And that sets the limit asymptotically for what a rocket can be. So if you can figure out some creative way to rearrange those elements into a rocket shape, then you can achieve a much better outcome. That's the first-principles approach.” From: Interview at Vanity Fair, October 8, 2014
