ALThis is how my prosthetic legs are made 🙌🏼
I need a new socket made every couple years. It depends on my weight loss or gain, time of the month, water retention, muscle change, swelling, etc.
Many amputees need new sockets for many different reasons, the first reason being that it’s old and was used too much, aka time for an update 😉
I’m so grateful to live in Canada 🇨🇦 because we have programs that help us cover the costs of prosthetic limbs. Did you know that one of my legs costs $15,000? 🤯
Here is a step by step video how my prosthetist takes a casting of my residual limb to make me a proper fitting socket 🥰
A fitted socket is soooo important. Most of my blisters and infections are a result of my socket not fitting properly 😩 and causing severe pain to walk.
