Typescript, which is a superset of the JavaScript language, adds, as the name implies, types, to avoid some of the pain points listed in the video. Syntax is nearly identical and it is commonly used and preferred in practical software applications with @microsoftdeveloper using it for VSCode and @claudeai for Claude Code. While JavaScript still has its uses for small scripts and prototypes, TypeScript is the superior alternative for most use cases. Quick question before you scroll — What is "5" + 5 in JavaScript? If you said 10 — you're wrong. 😬 The answer is "55". And this one mistake silently breaks more JavaScript code than almost anything else. Here's what's actually happening: JavaScript sees "5" as a String — not a number. So instead of adding — it joins them together. "5" + 5 = "55" This is called Type Coercion. And it's the reason your code sometimes behaves completely differently from what you expected. The fix? Always know your Data Types: 🔤 String → any text in quotes 🔢 Number → integers and decimals both ✅ Boolean → only true or false ❓ Undefined → variable with no value 🚫 Null → intentionally empty 📦 Object → multiple values together Save this post — this is the concept that separates beginners from developers who actually debug well. 🔖 💬 Comment: Did you get "55" or "10"?
