MIDIY easy & versatile rectangle top ✨
I’ve been seeing so many versions of this top on my timeline lately, usually *even more* versatile, but I made a tiny tweak so I could actually move around without any wardrobe malfunctions 🤪
to make your own rectangle top, you’ll only need your bust measurement and your preferred length (mine was 45 cm // ~18 in):
• cut a rectangle bust ÷ 2 (on the fold) x length 👉 if not cutting on the fold: (bust ÷ 2) x (length x 2)
• cut 4 straps 65 x 5 cm (25 x 2 in)
• fold each strap lengthwise, sew with ¼” seam allowance, and turn right side out
• place the straps on the right side of your unfolded fabric: 2 by the center fold and 2 about 12 cm from the bottom edge (so you can move more freely)
• fold the rectangle back up to cover the straps and sew with ⅜” seam allowance, leaving a ~15 cm // 6 in gap
• turn right side out and close the gap
the video’s pretty quick, so don’t forget to pause and screenshot the dimensions and strap positions (I literally learned you can pause a reel like 5 minutes ago 🥲)
