Yes, an interview is a conversation. But it's not a casual one. There's a clear agenda: Are you and the employer right for each other? If your strategy is, "I'm a good conversationalist — I'll just wing it," that's a risk. Because interviews aren't testing how friendly you are. They're testing whether you can clearly explain why you fit the role. If you can't answer that thoroughly — and succinctly — you're not ready yet. ➡️ TheNextStepCareerCoaching.com #NextStepCareerCoaching #jobsearch #GenZCareers

absolutely love hearing success stories like these from my students 🫶🏼 steal this strategy: 1: you need to realize it’s not about your qualifications, it’s about your interview skills at this point. Once you realize acing interviews is about interview skills (not job qualifications) your strategy becomes clear… 📌 Learn how to be a good interviewer. It’s the best way to create options for yourself. 2: The most important thing you need to do to get there is show up as your authentic self. Memorizing answers to “sound impressive” takes you twice as long to prepare and has worse results. 3: Interviewing is kinda fun, in a weird way. If you feel awkward interviewing today, it just means you need to up skill. Once you do that, you realize interviewing is just meeting lots of people, talking about yourself, and asking them questions about why they like their jobs. It’s fun! 4: All-in-all, it’s easier than you make it. Once you have the right strategy. You just have to do what hiring managers are looking for. (I can teach you this - comment INTERVIEW) 5: You have to learn to master EITHER interview confidence or storytelling. Maybe both. But definitely one.

Make sure to include this in your interview process no matter what job you’re interviewing for! The last thing you want is to join a company only to realize six weeks in that you’ve made a mistake. Here are the most essential questions that you need to ask in order to avoid this. #interviewtips

The first person to interview for a job is the least likely to get it. And it has nothing to do with their qualifications. Here's what's actually happening behind closed doors 👇🏾 When you're the first candidate to interview, the hiring manager has no benchmark yet. No one to compare you to. So no matter how well you perform, they hold back. They're mentally saving room. Waiting to see if someone better comes along. By the time they've interviewed 5, 6, 7 people, they've forgotten half of what you said. But the person who interviews last? They're freshest in the manager's mind when the decision gets made. This is called the Recency Bias. And it's quietly eliminating great candidates every single day. So what do you do? 1️⃣ Never take the first slot they offer you. When they ask "are you available Tuesday morning?", say yes, but ask if there are any slots later in the week. Push to the middle or end of their interview schedule whenever possible. 2️⃣ If you go first anyway, make yourself impossible to forget. Prepare an unforgettable narrative. Send a follow-up email within 24 hours. Reference something specific from the conversation. Give them a reason to keep thinking about you while they see everyone else. But here's the truth... Knowing when to interview is just one piece. Most talented Black professionals are still losing offers because of things they don't even know they're doing wrong. ↠ The way they open the interview. ↠ The moment they mention salary. ↠ What they say and don't say when the offer finally comes. These are not small details. They are the difference between walking out with the offer and waiting for a rejection email that was never supposed to be yours. That's exactly what we fix inside CAP - The Career Accelerator Program. We give you the full Interview & Salary Playbook. We guide you on your answers, your counters, and your follow-ups, so that when you walk out of that interview, you're not hoping for a callback. You're expecting an offer. Comment CAP if you're done leaving opportunities on the table. And send this to someone who has an interview coming up. This might be the thing that changes everything for them.

At Emppowered, we want to do things differently. Interviews go both ways, but after years of interviewing and hiring candidates, not all managers are trained the same. Their “vibe” and “gut feeling” has more bias than you think. #hiring #interviewtips #interviewing #unconsciousbias #jobmarket
