3️⃣ More miles won’t make you faster if you can’t recover. 
4️⃣ “Goal Pace” isn’t locked in until you can manage it under fatigue. 
5️⃣ Carbon shoes don’t make up for bad training. 
6️⃣ Stop worrying about your zone 2 pace. 
7️⃣ You suck at fueling because you need a fueling strategy. 
8️⃣ You can’t learn to execute with easy long runs alone, mix in race specific workouts. 
9️⃣ If you’re always sore, you’re not recovering… dial back volume or intensity. 
🔟 Most “injuries” aren’t random, they’re weaknesses/muscle imbalances.

I’ve seen people go from empty stomach to a full 🥩 meal before running, so as a nutritionist, here are my go-to’s. 👉🏽 If you have a long run coming, and want to avoid the unexpected bathroom stops, feeling empty mid run, or cramps that ruin your run, save this post! Here are my favorites: ⏰ MORE THAN 1 hr before run: Focus on carbs, but a little protein and/or fat and/or fiber is fine (for most people). • 🥖 Toast with turkey ham • 🍚 Rice cakes with avocado (or biscoff my fave hehe) • 🥔 Baked potato with a bit of butter & salt or cottage cheese • 🥤 Oats + milk + whey protein either as porridge or in a smoothie ⏰ 30-55min Lighter, easy-to-digest carbs. Less protein and fat. • 🍌 Banana + handful of pretzels • 🥯 Plain bagel or toast + honey or jam • 🍉 Bowl of soft fruit (avoid too much skin and fiber) • 🍿 POPCORN 😃 (salted, no butter) ⏰ 15-25 min before Top off glycogen & hydration. NO protein or fats • 🍎 Fruit pouch (baby kind) • 🥥 Coconut water + honey • 🍇 Handful of grapes or banana ⏰ <15 min before Quick boost WITHOUT the bulk. Avoid too much, this is only if you really need it (e.g. 15km+) OR if you didn’t have time for anything before. • 🍯 Spoon of maple syrup or honey • 🥤 Few sips of sports drink • 🍬 Gels, chews or candy ⚠️ Avoid high-fat, high-fiber, or protein-heavy meals pre-run. The closer to your run, the simpler the carbs. Today’s random pick from my latest order from The Feed: GU Liquid Energy I reviewed the packaging, texture, flavor, and took it on a run to see how my stomach would handle it. Packaging: ✅Easy to carry several! ✅Super easy to open with teeth! ✅Small hole for no spilling! Texture: ✅Almost as thin as water! ✅Not sticky! ✅Easy to swallow! Flavor: ✅Light & subtle! ✅3.7 on my sweetness scale! ✅Could take down multiple easily! Stomach Feel: ✅No issues! ✅Had great energy! The first one should feel boring. Boring = Strong Finish 💪 2️⃣ Nose Rule = Pace Rule 👃 If you can’t breathe through your nose, you’re basically sprinting when you should be chilling. 3️⃣ Exhale > Inhale 😮‍💨 Don’t just suck in air—push the old one out first. Empty lungs = room for fresh air = happy lungs. 4️⃣ Conversation Test 🗣️ If you can’t talk in full sentences, you’re going too hard. I just can’t tell you how much this moment meant for me.. A few months ago I set myself a goal to run a bloody marathon. I could not do more than 10km at the moment, so I had no idea what I was signing up for. But it is so crazy how your mindset shifts after setting these big goals. I definitely won’t say it will be easy and you have to work so hard, but guys the award is indescribable. Believing in yourself isn’t easy and you have to build that up. I definitely did not believe in myself in the beginning and also not this week as you might have seen. But I’m so lucky to have the best partner who has helped me to believe in myself when things get hard. I’m crying making this video and I’m a total mess at the moment haha, but @jaapdegraaf thank you for the amazing person you are for all the people out there.
