A critical upwind moment in the J/80 fleet as Alcaidesa Marina Vertigo (01) commits to a last-second tack directly in front of Aquaholic (09). Although Vertigo completes the maneuver cleanly, the timing proves costly. Aquaholic carries more speed through the crossing, rolls over Vertigo from the windward position, and establishes control immediately after the tack. With reduced speed coming out of the maneuver and forced to sail in disturbed air under Aquaholic's sails, Vertigo loses momentum and leverage.
