Shown here is the #Disco Snail parasite or Leucochloridium variae... a #flatworm 🪱 that finds its way to a snail’s eye stalks and throws a disco party - which is actually it mimicking a maggot or caterpillar to attract its primary host - a bird! The snail is mind-controlled to go out in the open and become easy prey. The worm lays eggs that are excreted and ingested by other unsuspecting snails so the cycle can continue. 🤯 🪱 “The Quest to Save Parasites” 🪱 explores the vast unseen world of WILDLIFE parasites . These parasites are “puppet masters” that keep ecosystems balanced. They need to be studied and listed as endangered species when applicable, say researchers. Ketika muatan listrik di awan mencapai titik jenuh, ia dipaksa turun ke bumi, namun ia tidak bisa menembus atmosfer secara linear karena hambatan udara yang tidak seragam di setiap titik. Petir bergerak dalam fase "lompatan" pendek sekitar 50 meter secara berulang. Di setiap ujung lompatan tersebut, aliran listrik akan berhenti selama hitungan mikrodetik untuk melakukan scouting atau mencari jalur dengan resistensi terendah biasanya area yang lebih lembap atau kaya akan ion. Karena kondisi atmosfer terus berubah-ubah, petir pun terus berganti arah di setiap tahap pencariannya, menciptakan pola patah-patah yang kita lihat sebagai bentuk zig-zag. Selain itu, ketika salah satu cabang dari Stepped Leader ini berhasil mencapai bumi atau bertemu dengan aliran listrik dari permukaan (streamer), jalur tersebut seketika menjadi "jalan tol" bagi arus utama yang sangat besar.
