I hated what I saw in the mirror—because no one talks about how autoimmune disease shows up on your face. 😔 But here’s what I’ve learned:
Confidence isn’t about flawless skin.
It’s about showing up anyway. 💛
It’s about finding what makes you feel good in your skin—without the shame, the filters, or the fake promises. ✨ I’m not all the way there.
But I’m working on it—and I’m thankful for the clean, calming routine that helps me glow a little brighter each day. 🌿 Have you ever struggled with loving your skin too?

This is rare! No one told me about all the changes I was about to face when I was diagnosed with #scleroderma and here are 3 things I wish I knew    1. Literally someone else in the mirror! Yo, this is the scariest thing anyone could ever have to undergo. Scleroderma is a skin tightening condition and so my facial skin was so stretched out it exposed my upper jaw taking away my upper lip too. This was gradual but the changes were so fast it is scary. Goodbye lipsticks and balms 😁 and yes my face has changed quite a bit ever since.   2. Restricted movement. Skin is so tight it has restricted mobility and now I have walk very carefully because if I bump into something I can’t control/balance myself and poof to the ground. Imagine not being able to casually raise your hand to straighten your hijab! A whole new balancing act 😁  3. Ohhh the ulcerations keep me up at night. It’s so painful and sometimes restricting me to be active on some days. Alhamdulillah though, I try to ignore it and occupy myself with lots of chats with mum and deep conversations with my Allah.    Rare diseases are difficult both physically and emotionally. Signs of Scleroderma to Watch Out For: • Persistent tightening or hardening of the skin • Swollen or painful fingers (especially in the morning) • Cold, numb or color-changing fingers (Raynaud’s phenomenon) • Heartburn, difficulty swallowing or digestive issues • Unexplained fatigue • Shortness of breath • Joint stiffness or pain • Small red spots on the skin (telangiectasia) If you or a loved one notices these changes, please seek medical evaluation as soon as possible. Full makeup face-Scleroderma edition 💄 This video was inspired by Melissa. She asked me if I had any makeup product recommendations to cover the red spots that a lot of scleroderma patients get. “Telangiectasias are small, dilated blood vessels near the skin’s surface, appearing as red spots or fine lines (spider veins) commonly on the face and neck” There’s no treatment but I see them as my cute red freckles. That’s why I do my makeup because I enjoy it and not to cover my red spots. I do believe the secret for adding layers to cover the red spots is hydrated skin. It took me a while to find the right makeup products that will not dry my skin and make it look cakey. Hydrating scleroderma skin can be challenging. The skin is tight so I don’t necessarily have pores to absorb most creams or oils. CBSTEFF for discount - silicone scar sheets. Honestly couldn’t believe how well these worked, made me feel much more confident after sleeping with them over my nose as it did really fade and flatten my nose - tamanu balm, I got given this as a gift and it worked absolute wonders 🥹 - exercise & good food, maybe not beneficial for scar healing but for my overall recovery after surgery? 💯 percent - spf spf spf! FACTOR 50 on your scars at all times (should be wearing this on your face anyway but honestly you do NOT want your scars getting darker in the sun) I hope that helps as I’ve had a lot of people ask me for advice on this ❤️❤️❤️ #scar #scars #healing #scartherapy
