MIThe Seekers “Georgy Girl” on The Ed Sullivan Show, May 21, 1967
“Georgy Girl” is a song by the Australian pop/folk music group the Seekers. It was used as the title song for the 1966 British romantic comedy film Georgy Girl. Tom Springfield, who had written “I’ll Never Find Another You” for the Seekers, composed the music and Jim Dale supplied the lyrics. The song is heard at both the beginning and end of the film, with markedly different lyrics (and with different lyrics again from those in the commercially released version). It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song but the prize went to “Born Free”. It was performed at the 1967 Oscars ceremony by Mitzi Gaynor

CIA St Kilda street is now known as Seekers Way in honour of the iconic Australian band “The Seekers” 🎶🎤
Seekers Way (formerly Nelson Street) is home to the house formerly owned by the late Judith Durham, where the band would meet and regularly rehearse.
Formed in 1962, The Seekers were the first Australian pop band to climb the charts in The United Kingdon and United States. One of Australia’s most successful musical exports, they were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1995 and Music Victoria Hall of Fame in 2015.
We were delighted The Seekers' Bruce Woodley and the late Judith Durham's sister Beverley Sheehan were able to join us at the official renaming launch.
Even if the carnival is over, the legacy and impact of The Seekers will live on in the City of Port Phillip.
