Loam → A balanced mix of sand, silt, and clay. Its structure allows water to infiltrate at a moderate rate (not too fast, not too slow) while holding enough moisture and nutrients for plant roots. The aggregates (crumb-like soil structure) also create air pockets, giving roots oxygen and preventing compaction.
