🙌 On Saturday, we hosted our Big Local Plan Community Assembly at Woolwich Works to round off the extensive consultation on our blueprint for the future of development in Greenwich. 📈 Residents from across the borough took part to give insight into how Royal Greenwich should grow, what types of homes and jobs we need, what is needed across our different neighbourhoods, and how we protect and enhance our environment. 🗣️ Cllr Majid Rahman, Cabinet Assistant for the Local Plan, explains more about the day and why the Local Plan matters to everyone in the borough. 📆 On top of the Big Local Plan Community Assembly, we also hosted more than 20 in-person events and four webinars between 15 December and 8 February. ✨ The feedback from this last phase of consultation will be used to shape a final Local Plan, which will be subject to a further consultation before it is submitted to the government’s Planning Inspectorate for independent examination which will determine whether the Plan can be adopted. #greenwich #london #woolwich #regeneration #development

I recently visited the site of the old Haghill School, which will soon be transformed by Milnbank Housing Association into 47 much-needed socially rented homes. Alongside Cllr Elaine McDougall, I campaigned at the time of demolition to ensure original sandstone was saved, which will now be incorporated into the new buildings. It’s great that a critical part of Glasgow’s heritage will be preserved to benefit local people and the community.

This is real investment in our community — providing high-quality, energy-efficient homes that local people can actually afford. Nearly half of these homes will be for social rent, helping residents stay in Cambridge despite rising housing costs. And alongside the homes, there’ll be a new community centre, library and local facilities — creating a proper neighbourhood hub for families.
