For me, this was not a viable option, as I was already a parent and needed a source of income. Student teaching and a newborn just didn’t mix! 3. My first year teaching, my administration told me that maybe “Teaching wasn’t for me”. 4. I bust my tail everyday in my career to prove that statement wrong. 5. I pray to become an instructional coach one day. To be there for those teachers who feel like no one believes in them. Two things that need to be included in your response ⬇️ When you are dealing with class behaviors what is really important is the preventative strategies or work you put in to begin with. Because you are a student teacher, and did not have the chance to really establish your class rules and expectations from Day One. It is really important to first start off with the experience you do have with a disruptive or defiant student. ✨Explain a situation in student teaching where a student was either being defiant or disruptive and go into detail on how you handled that situation. Next it is really important to talk about how, when you do have the opportunity to be the main teacher, that you will establish rules and expectations from Day One. ✨What will you be implementing from day one to minimize these class disruptions or defiant behavior. Three years ago, I submitted my edTPA as part of my journey to becoming a teacher. This one is for all the college seniors finishing up their last tasks or anxiously awaiting their results. Student teaching, edTPA, the Praxis test, and everything in between are just small steps on your teaching journey, but they’ll open the door to something vibrant and exciting. Teaching has changed my life for the better. It’s not always easy, and it’s certainly not for the faint of heart. It’s a rollercoaster, but I’m so thankful to be on it every single day. If you’re a new teacher, let this be your sign that it will all work out.
