Same heart rate. 50 minutes quicker 🤯Here’s what actually changed 👇 1️⃣ Easy runs EASY. Hard runs HARD. Over 80% of my running is super easy, true zone 1, conversational pace. For reference, even as a 1:08 half marathoner, my easy pace is around 5:00–5:15/km. The other ~20%? Proper work. Track sessions. Half marathon pace. 10K/5K pace. Marathon workouts.When it’s hard, it’s hard 🔥 2️⃣ Mileage matters. I’ve built up gradually over the years and now run ~170km per week. But the key is that 80%+ of that is controlled and aerobic. No ego running. Just stacking weeks. I followed the 10% rule, increasing my weekly mileage by no more than 10% at a time. So if I ran 50km one week, the next week wouldn’t go beyond 55km. 3️⃣ Recovery is training.Staying injury-free > smashing one session.– 8+ hours sleep / Hydration / Fuel properly / Listen to the body / Keep easy days truly easy Consistency beats hero workouts every time. 4️⃣ Train with people better than you. You become like the people you surround yourself with. Chase higher standards. In running and in life. What a Typical week looks like for me:
Mon – Double easy
Tue – Double easy
Wed – AM easy / PM track (normally 5K tempo + 5K of work (12x400) @ 5K pace or faster)
Thu – Easy
Fri – Easy
Sat – Easy
Sun – Long run with marathon pace work (4x5K / 20K continuous tempo etc.) Two hard sessions a week. The rest is controlled. No secrets. Just patience, mileage, recovery, and years of consistency. This is your reminder: go slower to get faster

Our splits for a 56:41 Mixed Doubles HYROX We were super happy with our Glasgow performance, but we know there are a couple of areas to improve. And of course we’ve done a deep dive on our analytics with @roxfit.app Our first half of the race was really solid and honestly very minimal changes are needed. However, the back half fell apart a little when I got the worst stitch from run 6 to the wall balls, which meant I wasn’t able to help Rio out very much on the later stations So it’ll be really interesting to see how our London EMEA performance plays out! Hopefully with no stitch and a couple of other small tweaks we’ve identified we’ll be chasing that sub 56! T-minus 6 days until we go again !! @gymshark code ABBIE10 to shop my race fit | ad
