How I make my daily TCM tea:
—soak jujubes in water
—peel and slice ginger
—boil water in a pot
—add peeled pear, jujubes, goji berries, ginger
—optional: add any tea of choice and rock sugar

PANow that I’ve stoked the fire for anyone avoiding red meat, let’s be clear.
My labs don’t look the way they do because of one food.
They look this way because most of the time I eat real food.
Protein that actually nourishes.
Fruits and vegetables that support the gut.
Fiber that helps regulate cholesterol.
Minimal ultra-processed junk.
Low sugar.
Low inflammation.
That’s the part people skip.
They want to argue about eggs…
while living on protein bars and “heart-healthy” cereal 🤡
You don’t need a perfect diet.
You don’t need to cut out foods you tolerate well.
But you do need to be honest about what makes up the majority of your intake.
Your labs don’t reflect what you eat sometimes.
They reflect what you eat consistently.
And real food still wins.

HE❌ What your gut tells you to say gives them control over your voice:
1️⃣ “Sorry, I should have talked to you first.”
👉 You just apologized for seeking support or advice. Now your manager thinks they can control who you talk to and what you say.
2️⃣ “I was just venting, it’s not a big deal.”
👉 You’re minimizing your concerns to make your manager comfortable. If it wasn’t a big deal, why are they bringing it up?
✅ Here’s what you say instead:
1️⃣ “I appreciate the feedback. I did raise this with you [on X date/in our last 1-on-1], and I didn’t feel like it was resolved, so I sought additional perspective. I’m happy to discuss it with you again.”
👉 You’re making it clear you DID come to them first, and they either ignored it or didn’t address it. You’re not apologizing for seeking help elsewhere.
2️⃣ “I hear you. I do want to clarify, should I not be discussing work concerns with a confidant or HR? I want to make sure I understand the expectation.”
👉 You’re making them say the quiet part out loud. If they’re trying to isolate you or control your communication, this exposes it.
3️⃣ “I’m happy to come to you first. Can we set up regular check-ins so I have a clear channel to raise concerns? I want to make sure I have a space to discuss issues before they escalate.”
👉 You’re calling their bluff. If they actually want you to come to them, they need to create space for it. If they don’t, their “come to me first” request is about control, not communication.

When a manager says “come to me first,” what they really mean is “stop talking to other people because it makes me look bad.”
If you raised a concern and they ignored it, dismissed it, or retaliated, you have every right to seek support elsewhere—from colleagues, HR, or even a lawyer.
