Whether you’re wanting to cruise the Tail of the Dragon, spend the day paddling on Lake Santeetlah or just enjoy the views of the Cheoah River right from your room — The Historic Tapoco Lodge has you covered. The thing that surprised me so much about this stay? The food. We ate SO much and as if being on the river while enjoying your meal isn’t enough, the food was phenomenal. It’s worth the drive over from Asheville just to eat there! So many of y’all have told me that you’ve returned to this special stay again and again and I can see why. It’s really the most special place tucked away in one of the most beautiful corners of the Great Smoky Mountains. Thanks for hosting me, Tapoco Lodge. I know one thing is for sure.. If you guessed that I stayed at the @tapocolodge this past weekend for my birthday, you were right! This time, I stayed in one of the Overlook Cabins, which are situated towards the top of the property, literally overlooking the river, the lodge, and the mountain backdrop. While this was one of the smallest cabins I’d stayed at, it was also my favorite so far! It had a comfortable King-sized bed, a mini fridge, microwave, a Keurig, and a completely updated bathroom with a huge walk in shower. It also had satellite TV, where we may have binged Harry Potter on one of the rainy days. This cabin had private parking, so it was easy to carry our belongings into it without having to trek across a parking lot. It also had a nice walkway from the cabin, sloping down to the lodge itself. The path felt very fairytale-ish — you’ll see it in one of my other upcoming reels so just keep an eye out! @tapocolodge has cabins of difference sizes, from these cozy 2 person cabins, to cabins that can fit a whole family. They also have a few huge river side cabins that could fit multiple families. And for those that like to be close to the action, they have quite a few really nice lodge suites, like the Roosevelt Suite I stayed at last time (look back to my reels from July 2024). Tapoco is situated 5 minutes from the base of the Tail of the Dragon and Moonshiners 28, about 20-30 min from Cherohala Skyway, and about 20 minutes from the Fontana Dam. It’s the perfect central location to go and explore all the beauty and adventure that Western NC/East TN has to offer. Funny enough, this trip ended up being more of a staycation for me! I stayed on the property about 90% of the time there.. enjoying the views, the river, the birds singing, and the delicious food from breakfast to dinner! I’ll post some of their meals soon too! 😍🥵🤤 What do you all think? Would you stay at that cozy cabin?
