MOThis is a follow-up to a post from June when I first shared some details of the project I am working on in Abruzzo. This project is for the restoration, and protection of the relics and reliquaries of the church where my family came from in the mountains of Abruzzo. The relics and reliquaries were a collection from several of the churches which were bombed and destroyed during the Nazi invasion in 1943. The priest I was working with, don Beniamino (Father Beniamino) and I could conclude that these relics and reliquaries (and theca) were rescued by someone in town during or immediately after the war, set in a box, and given to the provost sometime after the war. The relics and reliquaries stayed in the attic until don Beniamino pulled them out and set them in the archives. I took it upon myself to start to organize and record the pieces and bits we found and compare them to two inventories the church saved: one from 1937, the other from 1892.
The reliquaries and theca had seen better days. I worked to organize and after several trips, started to make repairs and bring new reliquaries to the church. My interest in the relics and reliquaries took me to Rome. I then used my interest in the protection and recovery of these relics to go back to school and get my MSF in Museum Studies from a school in England—the main thesis being the recovery of the relics and reliquaries and the viability of these Catholic artifacts being permitted into the modern-day museum. This same premise led me to the doctoral college to pursue my PhD in Medieval History with a focus on the reliquaries and history of the church.
Outside of Vatican City, while searching for new reliquaries in several stores, I discovered wooden beads, wire, chain, and crosses being sold in a store there and having a deep connection with the work I was doing on the reliquaries, I wanted to take this feeling of service home with me. As a result, the first rosaries I made were with wood beads.

FUThecha - A unique chutney from Maharashtra थेचा सिर्फ तीखा नहीं होता… उसमें दादी का प्यार, बचपन की दोपहर और गांव की खुशबू होती है।
🥜Ingredients:
• 8–10 green chilies (for strong spice)
• 6–7 garlic cloves
• 2 tablespoons roasted peanuts
• A little fresh coriander (optional)
• 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
• Salt to taste
• 1 tablespoon oil
🔥 Method:
1. Heat some oil on a pan or skillet.
2. Lightly roast the green chilies, garlic, and cumin in it.
3. Add the roasted peanuts and sauté for another minute.
4. Let the mixture cool slightly, then coarsely grind everything in a mixer (do not make a smooth paste).
5. You can add fresh coriander if you like.
🌶️ Your spicy, flavorful thecha is ready! Serve it with hot bhakri or plain rice.
