You are officially 12 years old today!
I actually started this journey over 12 years ago, but I made it official on July 25, 2013.
Being a business owner definitely has its rewards, but let me tell you, the ride ain’t always smooth. There have been plenty of times I said “F*CK THESE CLOTHES!!!” 😂😅🙄
I’ve worn damn near every hat you can think of. I don’t just sell clothes, I DESIGN and MAKE them (yea, I went the hard route 😩). That’s a whole different game than just buying inventory and flipping it. I had to learn everything from fabric, threads, trims, and printing to garment construction, from concept to production.
On top of all that, I had to be a digital marketing strategist, customer service rep, email marketer, social media manager, photo editor, video editor, model, makeup artist, hairstylist, photographer, videographer, warehouse worker, shipping manager, bookkeeper, ads manager, HR, freight forwarder, hiring manager, graphic designer, painter, carpenter… chile, should I keep going? 😩
My personality just doesn’t fit in somebody else’s box. So, I hired myself, and I never looked back.
I could write a whole encyclopedia on what it takes to run a clothing brand. I’ve got stories for days. But I’m not about to hold y’all hostage today. 😂
But let me say this, ONE OF MY BIGGEST STRUGGLES and the hardest part of being a business owner is not having someone to talk to. Somebody with a serious business mind. Someone who has skin in the game. Someone who is on the same level or higher. Somebody who gets it. Somebody who stays in those trenches daily, like I do! It would be even better if I could find someone who does exactly what I do (in the fashion industry). And not just for venting, but we can both release our business minds and not be judged because we would both have similar goals. Sometimes, I wish I had someone to sit down with and just pour my heart out to. Someone I can TRUST.
I don’t always need advice, just need someone to talk with. A good ol’ brain-dump session, because BAY-BEE… my brain stays full. And when it’s full, it’s hard to focus.

VII posted this on Threads about a week ago and was shocked at how much it blew up. People had a *lot* of opinions about how I live my life. Some were kind, some…not so much.
I don’t think being childfree, single, and happy at 40 should feel like a revolutionary act, but apparently it does. Which is exactly why I’m going to keep putting myself out there, even if it ruffles feathers.
Because if my existence challenges people this much, maybe it’s worth talking about.
