I looked into the neuroscience of obsession, and what I discovered was fascinating. If you’ve ever wondered what’s happening inside the brains of the world’s most successful artists, athletes, and entrepreneurs, this is for you. Obsession isn’t random. It taps into three systems in the brain. And when all three are activated, everything changes. The first system is the salience network. It’s the part of your brain that decides what’s important and what’s noise. Most people jump between tasks because their brain hasn’t decided what to focus on. But when you become obsessed with a goal, the salience network locks in. And everything else fades. Your brain starts filtering the world through one question. Does this get me closer to the goal? The second is the dopamine system. Dopamine isn’t about pleasure. It’s about pursuit. It’s the chemical your brain uses to reinforce effort and reward progress. Obsessed people get dopamine from taking action toward their goal. Every step forward trains their brain to want more of that same effort. That’s why obsession makes hard work feel addictive. The third is the prefrontal cortex. It’s responsible for focus, planning, and resisting distractions. It holds your goal in mind and helps you filter out anything that doesn’t serve it. In obsessive states, this system stays online longer and fires harder. You’re not relying on motivation. Your brain is actively steering you toward the mission. And the best part is this. You don’t need to be born obsessed. You can train it. Pick one goal. Make it emotionally meaningful. Cut out distractions. Track your progress. Do that consistently. And your brain will start to rewire itself around that mission. That’s how obsession is built. And that’s how you become unstoppable. By @diewithoutregretss

Why does focus disappear before energy under pressure? 🤯 It’s not because you’re weak — it’s because your brain is wired for survival. When stress hits, your body pumps out adrenaline + cortisol. You feel alert and full of energy ⚡️… but your brain diverts resources away from the prefrontal cortex (the part responsible for focus, clarity, and decision-making). That’s why you can feel restless, overthinking, or scattered — even when you’re not physically tired. ✨ The good news? You can train your brain to return to focus: 1️⃣ Exhale longer than you inhale — activate calm. 2️⃣ Write ONE priority for the next 10 minutes. 3️⃣ Reframe pressure as fuel, not threat. Pressure isn’t the enemy. Learning to guide your energy into clarity is the real performance skill. 👉 Try this next time you feel scattered under pressure and tell me if it works for you. #FocusUnderPressure #NeuroscienceSimplified #HighPerformanceHabits #StressToStrength #MindsetReset #PeakPerformance #ClarityOverChaos #PerformanceCoach #BrainTraining #HabitsForSuccess #EmotionalClarity #MindfulnessTools #StressReliefTips #LifeCoachingJourney #DailyHabits #InnerCalm #mindsetmatters #mindful #growthmindset #zen #mindsetshift

Child’s prefrontal cortex continues to develop till early 20s. This is the part of the brain responsible for logical rational thinking, mindful responses and impulse control as well as understanding the long terms implications of actions. When child is small and having overwhelm of emotions that’s when lower brain or amygdala and emotional cortex are activated. When we ask questions and allow them to have a problem solving approach we r also helping them develop the thinking brain or pre frontal cortex that is responsible for impulse control . Asking them for solutions to their problems and issues is a good way to help them develop problem solving abilities. If they can’t find solutions then again ask questions to guide them to the possible options vs jumping to solve it yourself! U will be a hero but they won’t end up learning much . You will feel loved and important because child will keep turning to you for help - but it won’t help the child!! #emotionalintelligence #problemsolving #problemsolvingskills #emotionalquotient #positiveparenting #parenting #parentingtips #independentthinkers #ririswellnessfundas

"The smartest person in the room is the one who knows how to play the fool." 🎭 It's not about being naive; it's about emotional and social intelligence. The prefrontal cortex is running a complex operation: suppressing impulses, reading others in real-time, and constantly adjusting behaviour to stay in control. When you make yourself seem less threatening, people relax, and that's when they reveal more than they intend. Master your mind to master the room. #SocialIntelligence #EmotionalControl #PrefrontalCortex #PsychologyHacks #StrategicThinking #EmotionalIntelligence #EQvsIQ #PlayingTheFool #MindsetMastery

1️⃣ One of the most repeated findings in psychology is that the events of life do not determine long term wellbeing. The interpretation does. The meaning you assign to a situation predicts emotional outcome far more than the situation itself. Two people can face the same challenge and experience completely different internal realities. 2️⃣ Researchers at Stanford studying cognitive appraisal found that when people reframe a stressor as a challenge rather than a threat, their bodies respond differently. Heart rate increases in a way that supports performance. Cortisol spikes are lower. Decision making improves. The event stays the same. The response changes everything. 3️⃣ Another study from the University of Michigan showed that people who practiced deliberate mindset shifts during difficult moments recovered emotionally up to three times faster. Their brain activity in regions tied to rumination decreased. Their prefrontal cortex, which governs clarity and regulation, became more active. The conclusion was simple. Mindset is not positive thinking. It is neurological strategy. 4️⃣ Therapists see this daily. Some people collapse under minor disruptions because they interpret them as personal attacks or signs of failure. Others stay grounded during major upheavals because they treat the moment as information rather than identity. The skill is not avoiding difficulty. It is choosing your internal posture when difficulty arrives. 5️⃣ Life will always bring situations that are unfair, unexpected, and uncomfortable. You cannot stop that. But you can decide whether the moment shapes you or strengthens you. You can choose whether the challenge is a wall or a doorway. You can decide whether you freeze or move. Here is the question that matters. Do you believe mindset is something people are born with, or something anyone can learn with enough practice? We may never cross paths again. ✅ Tip #1… In order to keep our prefrontal cortex (the part of our brain that solves problems) online, we need to regulate first. In order to regulate, we need to pause, mentally stake a step back, and intentionally practice a calming strategy when we’re seeing behavior that we reactively feel the need to punish. My go-to’s are 1) take a deep breath, and 2) say a cognitive reframe like, “I’m strong enough to find my calm.” The moment our emotions take over, we’re operating from our limbic system, which is why we often lean towards those punishment strategies. But once we’re regulated... ✅ Tip #2… Play detective. Calmly go over to them and stay curious. Ask them what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. Your goal is to learn what thoughts or feelings are UNDERNEATH the behavior that you’re seeing on the surface. This sets us up to better understand what’s going on so we can help them develop whatever skill might be lacking in that moment. But’s let’s be real, that regulation piece is the hardest part of being parent. They say and do things that set us off and we have a really hard time showing up as the calm and playful parents that we want to be. Therapy thoughts! BREATHING INCREASES PREFRONTAL CORTEX ACTIVITY REDUCES FIGHT OR FLIGHT REDUCES ANXIETY & IMPROVES EMOTIONAL REGULATION This exercise does that all! When we experience sudden, high stress, we activate our fight or flight response. When this turns into chronic high stress, the body stays “dysregulated”, with stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol.  The vagus nerve system acts to counterbalance the fight or flight system and can trigger a relaxation response in our body.   The vagus nerve is the longest nerve in your body. It connects your brain to many important organs throughout the body. The vagus nerve is part of your parasympathetic “rest and digest” nervous system. It influences your breathing, digestive function and heart rate, all of which can have a huge impact on your mental health.  Like a muscle, we can "tone" the vagus nerve. Vagal tone is an internal biological process that represents the activity of the vagus nerve.  Increasing your vagal tone activates the parasympathetic nervous system, and having higher vagal tone means that your body can relax faster after stress.  By stimulating the vagus nerve we can receive powerful health benefits.  If your vagal tone is low-- you can increase it by stimulating your vagus nerve. (This exercise does that!) One of the main ways that you can stimulate the healthy function of the vagus nerve is through deep, slow belly breathing.  WHY DOES THIS ACTIVITY WORK? The vagus nerve is connected to your vocal cords and the muscles at the back of your throat. Loud Singing, humming, chanting, gargling all stimulate your vagus nerve and therefore support your feeling dealing healing 🛋🆒 🔥As always; I’m here to make mental health tools accessible. Want more? When our Nervous system is dysregulated, we REACT instead of RESPONDING. REACTING > is acting upon impulses without thinking it through. Jumping on amygdala’s response vs using the Prefrontal cortex. Unless you are in an actual life threatening situation, REACTING does not help much. It can damage relationships and lead to other unwanted consequences. RESPONDING > is taking a pause, paying attention to one’s nervous system, thinking it through and showing up in a calm way. This response is not impulsive and is most helpful. Feel free to try the above mentioned ways to self regulate or share more ideas in the comments below! 💗 #trauma #traumaresponse #hindipsychology #urdupsychology #desiparents #parenting #toddlerhood #motherhood #anger #depression #pakistan
