The 10,000-step goal actually comes from a 1960s Japanese marketing campaign rather than science!! However, research has shown that increasing daily steps does have significant health benefits. What Science Says: Health Benefits Start Below 10,000 Steps: Studies show that even 7,000 steps per day can reduce the risk of early death. More Steps = More Benefits (to a Point): Benefits continue increasing up to about 10,000 steps, but beyond that, the returns diminish. Intensity Matters Too: Walking briskly or incorporating strength training can be just as (or more) beneficial as just hitting a step goal. Key Takeaway: You don’t have to hit exactly 10,000 steps every day.
