✨FUN FACT : When a massive star dies in a supernova, its core can collapse into a neutron star, packing more mass than the Sun into a city-sized sphere. Some of these remnants spin incredibly fast and blast narrow beams of radio or X-ray energy from their magnetic poles. As the star rotates, the beams sweep through space like a lighthouse, and if one crosses Earth, we woulde be able to perfectly detect a timed pulses of light ,making these objects, called pulsars, some of the most precise natural clocks in the universe. If we were much closer to a pulsar, the situation could turn deadly. At close range, each sweep of its beam would dump intense deadly gamma radiation into space like a cosmic blowtorch. Our earths magnetic fields would be torn apart and we would be bombard with lethal radiation.
