Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC is one of the most iconic and respected coupes of the 80s, which is still considered a symbol of luxury, power and German engineering perfection. This model was part of the S-Class family in the C126 body and was produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1985 to 1991. In those years, it was the most expensive and prestigious coupe of the brand.
Under the hood of the 560 SEC was a powerful 5.6-liter V8 engine, which produced about 300 horsepower (in the European version). For the mid-80s, it was a very serious power. The car could accelerate to 100 km/h in about 6.5-7 seconds, and the maximum speed was limited by electronics to 250 km/h. At that time, such indicators were at the level of sports cars.
But 560 SEC was appreciated not only for speed. The main feature of this machine is the incredible build quality. Engineers created it without savings: thick body metal, powerful noise insulation, expensive leather, natural wood in the cabin. Many cars of this model still drive on the roads after 30-40 years, which indicates the legendary reliability of old Mercedes.
An interesting fact - the C126 body is considered one of the most aerodynamic coupes of its time. Despite the large size and weight of almost 1800 kg, the drag coefficient was about 0.34, which was considered an excellent result for the 80s.
