🩼 ACL recovery in a nutshell! I was talking to someone at physical therapy the other day about how when I first became a mom I suddenly realized I hadn’t been a good enough friend to my friends who were already moms. It’s impossible to know just how hard it is and how much support is needed until you’ve been through it yourself. And I feel the same way about this ACL recovery. It’s hard to really understand the grueling and mentally draining reality of this injury until you’ve gone through it. But now I know, and now I can be better support system for friends and any of you out there who are going through the same injury. I hope this provides a little insight, but also a little hope that the hard work you put into recovery does pay off! 💪 Huge shout out to my recovery team at @championptp - @lenmacpt and @diweshpoudyal - and to Jason for being my biggest supporter always 🫶 #acl #aclrecovery #aclsurgery

How They Rebuild Torn ACLs @theaclrehabguy 👈FOLLOW It all sounded so easy right? That first day in the surgeons office “So we’ll whip out a piece of your hamstring, pop it in your knee as a new ACL, you’ll do some physio and you’ll be back to sport in 6-9 months!” Simples right? Maybe not.. The biggest lie people are told after ACL surgery is not one specific thing.. But it often starts in this initial conversation The reality is only 24% of amateur athletes get back to sport within 12 months Many are sent back with a high risk of re-tear due to low quality rehab, missing out on critical things like passing strength and jump testing, plyometrics and a clear return to sport plan. Reality does not often match these initial expectations The reality is that rehab is hard, people are rarely given a clear roadmap of exactly what they should do, how to navigate the setbacks and how to reduce the risk of further injury! So if you thought initially, “I’ll be back skiing or playing sport in 9 months” when you first had surgery” but reality has looked much different I’ve just created a training that might help It’s called “How to build the strongest legs of your life after ACL surgery” and guess what? It’s totally free Comment below this post KNEE and I will send it right over now

Sad realities about ACL Surgery Recovery that is not talked about enough… 42% of people get some form of depression… Only 50% of people return to the same level of sport…. However, the cool thing is that you can ALWAYS come back stronger than ever. Life is ALL about how you RESPOND. No injury has to limit you. Here are our top 6 things you must do after ACL surgery to get back to life without crutches CONFIDENTLY 🦵 @all_in_acl 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲'𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂! 1. Start strength training on machines: 💪 Yes that means taking your crutches with you to the gym, supporting your fully body weight for normal walking is hard! Basic band exercises simply aren't enough to build what you need. To walk normally : you MUST get in the gym and start building back your quad! 2. Practice walking with crutches, alot: 🚶 The best way to get back to walking without the crutches is to walk with them! Perfect your walking with crutches and do it often before starting to put more weight through your leg. A "slight limp" is a HUGE problem 3. Re-establish HYPEREXTENSION: 💯 Almost only counts in horsehoes & handgrenades, missing even a little bit of extension will prevent you from EVER walking normally. Getting to 0 if you have more than that on the other side is not good enough, if you don't achieve this passively early, it's a struggle to get it down the road It also must be maintained every step of the way ! 4. Track your steps: 📲 Everyone has a smartphone tracking their steps already nowadays, check how many steps you took a day on average before this injury and try to build up to that with crutches Many ACLers struggle because they ditch they crutches when they can walk normally for 2,000 steps but then go back to walking 10,000 steps and don't have the strength to maintain it. (Continued in first comment)

💥𝐊𝐧𝐞𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧💥 —— 👉Limited knee extension is a common issue after injury, surgery (especially ACL reconstruction or meniscal procedures), or periods of immobilization. One manual therapy technique that can help restore the last few degrees of extension is a posterior femoral joint glide mobilization. 🔍 How it works In full knee extension, the femur must glide posteriorly on the tibia. When the joint capsule or posterior structures become stiff, this glide can be restricted—leading to altered gait mechanics, and anterior knee pain. Applying a posterior glide to the femur helps restore normal arthrokinematics and improves end-range extension. ✅ When this technique is useful • Post-operative knee stiffness (ACL, meniscus, TKA, etc.) • Chronic extension loss after sprains, swelling, or immobilization • Individuals with anterior knee pain secondary to lacking full extension • Cases where quad activation is limited due to arthrogenic muscle inhibition 🧠 Clinical reminder: Joint mobilization improves motion access, but long-term change requires immediate follow-up work—quad activation drills, weight-bearing extension exercises, gait retraining, and functional strengthening. #RehabScience

Raw and real 💛 3 days post ACL surgery. I spent the day previous with my head in the toilet puking, with the shakes and no sleep for 48 hours. A day later I managed to get myself to the gym. Emotional, determined and proud of myself. My number one goal has always been to show people the side of life that we don’t speak about so much. But it’s the side of life that can be most healing. That’s why my community is called @theothersideoflife___ I want to show you the good and the uncomfortable of my ACL journey, so you can find hope 💙 #wellness #breathwork #reels

Here are the biggest ones: ❌ Myth 1: “You’ll be back to normal in a few months.” Reality: ACL recovery is a marathon — not a quick bounce-back. ❌ Myth 2: “Pain means you’re doing something wrong.” Reality: Some pain is normal. Avoiding it slows progress. ❌ Myth 3: “PT alone is enough.” Reality: Strength training, mindset work, and consistency matter just as much. ❌ Myth 4: “Once you’re cleared, you’re ready.” Reality: Clearance ≠ confidence, strength, or game-ready. ❌ Myth 5: “You’ll never feel like yourself again.” Reality: You can come back stronger — with the right plan. Don’t let these myths shape your recovery. Learn them early, fix them fast, and stay in control of your comeback. You’re not broken. You’re rebuilding. Follow me for more recovery tips!
