Comment ADHD for more tips and info! Things I Wish We’d Started Sooner for Our Kids with ADHD As a mom (and a pediatric dietitian) with ADHD raising kids with ADHD… wow, there are so many things I wish we’d known earlier. Not because we were doing anything “wrong,” but because these tools make everyday life so much smoother. Here are the game-changers 👇 📅 Visual schedules — predictable routines = less overwhelm 📝 Visual reminders — because verbal reminders go poof in 3 seconds 🥕 Nutrient-dense crunchy snacks — huge for sensory regulation 🦶 Foot band at the table — movement actually supports focus 🧍‍♀️ Letting them stand at mealtimes (with choking safety in mind) ⏰ Visual timers — perfect for transitions + mealtimes 🧸 Weighted blanket — calming input when they need to reset 🌀 Sensory swing — our MVP for after-school decompression 🎒 Fidgets during homework — especially our math fidget spinners 💊 Medication — truly life-changing once we found the right support None of these make things perfect (ADHD life is never linear 🙃), but they’ve made such a difference in our home. 💬 If you’re raising an ADHD kiddo, what’s ONE thing that’s helped your family the most?

Your brain isn’t the problem — the operating system is. Most of us are out here running our ADHD life on settings we never picked (the default neurotypical ones)… using routines we never built… and wondering why everything feels so hard. Here’s the truth I wish someone told me earlier: ADHD doesn’t fail because of willpower. It fails because the systems weren’t designed for our hardware. After three years of working with an ADHD coach, I rebuilt my life like a software update — one module at a time. Energy modules. Visibility modules. Dopamine modules. And for the first time ever, things started running (more) on autopilot. Not because I’m “disciplined”… but because the system does the remembering for me. This series is that update. 20-ish episodes. 20 ADHD-friendly systems. Zero discipline required. — 👋 I’m Chris — 3 years with an ADHD coach changed my life, so I built @shimmer.care to help thousands of ADHDers do the same. This is episode 1 of my 20-ish episode series: ADHD Girl Systems. New episode tomorrow-ish. Follow before you forget.

🧠 ADHD & Neurodivergent parents…who can relate? If we’re going to talk about it, let’s talk about the whole picture. Not just the cute moments. Not just the wins. Not just the polished version. Not just the superpower. Not just the famous neurodivergent people. 🧹 Organization is one of our everyday struggles, and this is real life, in real time, no filter. 🌈 The internet often shows the rainbows and unicorns highlight reel. But ADHD + Dyslexia life for us is layered, messy, beautiful, exhausting, and very real. Sharing this so the people living it know they’re not alone. And for anyone who’s over the perfectly curated, hyper clean, organized home content…you won’t find that here. You’re our people, welcome. 😉😉 #adhd #adhdparenting #executivefunctioning #executivefunction #neurodiversity

Living with Asperger’s Syndrome means I experience the world a little differently — and that's okay. 🌎 Asperger’s is a lifelong condition, part of the autism spectrum, and it shapes how I communicate, process information, and connect with others. It’s not something that needs to be "fixed." It’s a part of who I am. 💬✨ Understanding my sensory needs, social communication style, and unique strengths has helped me create a life that works for me, not against me. If you’re navigating life with Asperger’s or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), remember: your brain is powerful exactly as it is. 🧠💥 I share autism and ADHD life hacks here to make the journey easier — because thriving is possible! 💡❤️ #AspergersSyndrome #AutismLife #ADHDandAutism #NeurodivergentLife #LifeWithAspergers #AutismAcceptance #ASDCommunity #Neurodiversity #MentalHealthAwareness

How to Piss Off Someone With ADHD (Without Even Trying) Living with ADHD comes with plenty of daily challenges - but nothing gets under our skin faster than the little things people say or do without realising. Here are some of the fastest ways to annoy someone with ADHD: 🚫 “Just try harder.” If effort alone could fix ADHD, we’d all be Olympic gold medalists by now. ADHD isn’t a willpower issue - it’s a brain difference. 🚫 Interrupting our hyperfocus. When we finally find “the zone,” it’s sacred. Break it… and you’ll unleash rage we didn’t know we had. 🚫 “You just need to be more organised.” Ah yes, why didn’t we think of that? 🙃 If colour-coded planners and sticky notes solved ADHD, Staples would be the cure. 🚫 Shaming us for being late. Time blindness is real. We don’t want to be late, our brains just run on a different clock (…aka “chaos o’clock”). 🚫 Telling us to ‘calm down.’ Spoiler: that never makes anyone calm down. Ever. Especially not an ADHD brain in overdrive. ✨ Takeaway: Most of us aren’t asking for perfection - just understanding. Swap judgment for compassion, and you’ll see how much lighter ADHD life can feel. We may never cross paths again. Follow so you don’t lose me - @alexlehmann_

Every morning before my ADHD meds kick in, it’s like living inside a browser with 47 tabs open… and none of them are the one I actually need 😭 I wake up and immediately: • forget what day it is • start three tasks at once • wander around holding objects with no memory of why • stare at the wall like it personally offended me • attempt to function on vibes alone It’s that special kind of chaotic energy where you’re awake but your brain is still buffering. Like, I know what I need to do… I just can’t seem to do the doing. My morning self is basically the “trial version” of me—glitchy, unlicensed, and running on pure confusion 😂 Before the meds: 🧠 thoughts = spaghetti 🏃‍♂️ motivation = 0 🎯 focus = optional 🤡 personality = clown mode activated After the meds: “Ohhhh so THIS is what linear thought feels like??” 😌 If your mornings feel like someone forgot to plug in your brain overnight, you’re not alone. Comment your most chaotic pre-med moment—let’s bond over our collective AM dysfunction ✨ 👉 Love ADHD humor?
