The "Walk For Peace" is a 2,300-mile procession of monks making their way from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, D.C., where they are expected to conclude their journey in mid-February and ask Congress to recognize Buddha's day of birth as a federal holiday and in this long walk Aloka joined from India.
India was always a sacred place for Buddhism as Lord Budhha made india learn about the path of peace and compassion, after many years a representative from India "Aloka" -a stray joined the monks. She is the true inspiration and motivation to walk the path. She is now walking near Washington DC and almost completed her Journey.

TAAn extraordinary mission is unfolding on the roads of America. A Buddhist monk... an Indian dog... and a 3,700-kilometer journey.
Starting from Texas in October 2025, this walking pilgrimage will reach Washington DC. 120 days... ten states... one purpose. To spread the message of peace, non-violence, and compassion to the entire world.
And then came Aloka. A stray dog from the streets of India... bearing a heart-shaped mark on her forehead. She walked with the monks for 100 days in India. Now in America too, the same companionship... the same loyalty.
Perhaps the language of peace transcends all boundaries.
In November, an accident occurred. A monk lost his leg. Yet he said, "This sacrifice is meaningful for peace. I am ready to give my life as well."
They will reach their destination in February. But truth be told... there never was a destination.
Because when you walk for peace... every step itself is the destination.

Aloka is a rescued stray dog who became an unexpected symbol of peace, compassion, and mindfulness.
He was found in India, abandoned and injured. Later taken in by Buddhist monks from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center in Texas. The monks named him Aloka, a Pali word meaning “light” or “brightness”, reflecting the Buddhist idea of inner illumination.
When the monks began their long Walk for Peace..a meditative pilgrimage on foot from Texas to Washington, D.C.
Aloka naturally joined them. Walking barefoot or in simple sandals, the monks moved silently, spreading a message of non-violence, loving-kindness, and awareness. Aloka walked beside them every day, through cities, highways, heat, cold, and rain.
He was not trained to be a symbol. He did not speak or preach. Yet people across America noticed him first—his calm presence, gentle behavior, and quiet companionship. Aloka became a living example of Buddhist values: loyalty, patience, and compassion without words.
Unlike Laika, Aloka walks by choice, surrounded by care. Unlike humans, he expects nothing in return. He simply walks.
Today, Aloka represents how even a once-abandoned life can become a source of hope and peace. His story reminds us that kindness can transform suffering, and that sometimes the purest teachers walk on four legs.
